Urban Tropics – A Terrace Reimagined 

Urban Tropics was conceived as a quiet tribute to leisure, light, and the everyday. From the outset, the design was shaped by its context—an open site with abundant natural light and far-reaching views. The goal was to create a haven that honours daily rituals: sharing tea in the morning, unwinding with a book, or hosting friends as the sun goes down.  

At the centre of the space is a white pergola crafted in metal with detailed handwork, minimal yet expressive—casting changing patterns of light and shade as the day progresses. Its form draws inspiration from tropical plants like lobster claw heliconias and birds of paradise, adding a subtle, whimsy botanical character to the space.   

We designed to frame and enhance what was already beautiful: the open sky, the cityscape, and the landscape that surrounds the home.
